Garden Room Electrics in Kidlington and Oxford

A complete electrical installation for your garden office, studio, gym or leisure space—from getting power safely to the building to fitting everything you need inside.

Modern garden room at night with warm internal lighting, exterior lights and pathway lighting
Designed around how you will use the room

A garden room needs more than an extension lead. The electrical supply and internal circuits should be planned around the room’s intended use, the equipment being installed and the distance from the main property.

RAL Electrical can plan and install the complete electrical system, coordinating with your garden-room builder or working directly with you.

Power supply

A properly designed cable route from the house, with suitable circuit protection and capacity for the planned electrical load.

Sockets & lighting

Convenient socket positions, internal and external lighting, switches and controls arranged around the finished layout.

Comfort & connectivity

Electrical heating, internet provision and dedicated supplies for equipment such as air conditioning.

Getting power to the garden room

The installation begins with assessing the existing electrical supply, the proposed cable route and how much power the garden room will require. The final design considers the length and installation method of the cable, protective devices and whether the existing consumer unit has suitable capacity.

Where appropriate, an armoured cable can be routed externally or underground to provide a robust supply between the house and the garden building. The exact route and specification are agreed after a site assessment.

Internal sockets and electrical circuits

Sockets are positioned around furniture, desks and equipment so the finished room remains practical and avoids trailing extension leads. Depending on the intended use, the installation can include:

  • General double sockets and USB charging points.
  • Dedicated supplies for higher-load equipment.
  • External weather-resistant sockets.
  • A local consumer unit where required by the design.

Lighting inside and outside

Lighting can be designed for work, relaxation or a combination of both. Options include ceiling lights, downlights, wall lights, task lighting and dimming controls. External wall, pathway or security lighting can also be included, with suitable switching, sensors or timers.

Heating and air conditioning

Electric panel heaters, radiators or other fixed heating can be incorporated into the electrical design. If air conditioning is planned, RAL Electrical can provide the appropriate electrical supply and isolation point, coordinated with the air-conditioning installer and the manufacturer’s requirements.

Internet and data connection

For a dependable garden office connection, provision can be made for a hard-wired data cable from the house and a network point or Wi-Fi access point inside the room. Planning the route alongside the electrical work helps keep the installation neat and reliable.

Inspection, testing and certification

Once complete, the installation is inspected and tested so you can use the garden room with confidence. The relevant electrical certification is provided for the completed work.

Power your garden room properly.
